August Challenge!!

Have you ever looked through your patterned paper stash and thought 'what was i thinking when i bought this paper?'?  If you have, then this months challenge is for you!!  Our August challenge has been set by DT member Anita, and she would like you to dig to the very bottom of your patterned paper stash, and pull out those UGLY papers! That's right, use those UGLY papers to make beautiful art! :)
Don't forget to also include your handmade items! :)

Please remember everybody has different opinions, so what you see as ugly, others may see as beautiful, so please play nice! :)

This months sponsor is none other then our challenge designer, Anita, with her awesome Flutterby Designs store!
You can find the Flutterby Designs store and all Anita's awesome Embellishments here:
And also on Facebook here:

And look... just in time for a new release!! Don't miss out!!

Here are our DT ugly paper examples! :)

I started with a layer of Gesso over the ugly PP, then built my page up from there.
Hanmade items: Charms Creations music paper arrow, Burdy's Embellies cool cogs, Funky Flair Studio flair, and Rainbow Splendour epoxy flair

I printed the photo on canvas paper and used the trimmings to make bunting. Rather like this paper now. I thought i would never use it! :)
Handmade items: Rainbow Splendour leaves, Burdy's Embellies cool cogs, Charms Creations heart, D'Lish Scraps flower and flair, handmade bunting by me

I put some cardstock over most of my UGLY pp, but then i punched out bits to use in my clusters. Even the title is cut from ugly brown patterned paper!!
Handmade items: Burdy's Embellies cool cogs, Charms Creations star, D'lish Scraps flair

This is very loud UGLY paper! Keeping the photo and focal point small helps to make it stand out!
Handmade items: Studio 1440 flair, Rainbow Splendour wood veneer

The green has been in my stash for ever! The brownie coloured paper is the reverse of the diamonds.
Handmade items: Flutterby Designs Flair, and a tag made by me

I have recently donated a heap of old and ugly pp's to to my local kindy, so i went searching through my scraps box and found these pieces which are all the ugly backs of nice paper. :)
Handmade embellies by Burdy's Embellies and Rainbow Splendour

We hope we have inspired you to pull out your UGLY papers and get creating! :)

All entries need to be linked to our blog by midnight August 31 to be in the draw for the Flutterby Designs prize! :)

Happy scrapping!
